Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of electrical assembly experience in manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order quantities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet material request requirements.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for cross‑team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble moderately complex electrical components per schematics and instructions.
  • Mount components and route cables, ensuring neat and compliant wiring.
  • Inspect assemblies to ensure correct component placement and wiring per quality standards.
  • Maintain records of tasks, deviations, and quality concerns.
  • Follow safety protocols and report hazards promptly.
  • Read blueprints and BoMs; use ERP systems to close jobs and request materials.
  • Mentor less-experienced teammates and meet department targets.
  • Understand and comply with company policies.

Job Overview

As an S&C Electric Canada team member, you’ll work on tasks and projects that have real‑world impact. Your role focuses on transforming the grid for resilient and reliable power worldwide, ensuring our products help the grid adapt to severe weather and transition to clean energy.

Work Schedule

Afternoon Shift: Monday – Thursday; 4:00 pm – 2:00 am (38 hrs per week)

Compensation

Hourly base pay: $28 per hour.
Shift premium: $1 per hour.
Eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP) with a target bonus of 4% of annual base earnings.

Position Overview

Join Our Team as an Assembler – MES. You will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble moderately complex electrical components, cut, strip, crimp, and label wires according to schematics and assembly instructions.
  • Mount electrical components while bending conduit and routing and securing cables neatly within assemblies.
  • Inspect electronic components and assemblies to ensure correct component selection, placement, and wiring, according to quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials, and report any safety hazards promptly.
  • Read and understand complex blueprints/schematics and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
  • Use an overhead crane, ladders, and other material handling equipment to move and position materials for assembly.
  • Utilize the Oracle ERP and other internal systems to close jobs and request material replenishment.
  • Verify quality standards via a quality assurance checklist.
  • Mentor less experienced team members in the completion of their work to promote professional growth.
  • Meet department targets while consistently adhering to quality and safety standards.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable company policies and rules.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
  • 2‑3 years of experience in an electrical assembly role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Highly proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers, manipulating small objects, operating tools, and handling intricate equipment.
  • Ability to understand basic blueprints, BOLs, and electrical schematics.
  • Sound attention to detail, consistently determining accurate order quantities.
  • Capability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned material requests.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to articulate information efficiently to team members across production support departments.
  • Basic computer skills to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
  • Basic math skills to calculate measurements and weights.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to understand and complete requests from team members inside and outside the department.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools.
  • Willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately and report concerns promptly to the safety action team.
  • Ability to train and mentor less‑experienced team members.
  • Capable of embracing diversity and equity to contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.
Physical Demands
  • Standing: All tasks performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
  • Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging from 5 lb to 20 lb.
  • Walking: Occasional walking over moderate distances (less than 1 km).
  • Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging from 5 lb to 20 lb.
  • Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1,000 lb.
  • Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1,000 lb.
  • Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
  • Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
  • Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging from 5 lb to 20 lb.
