Silent-Aire, a Johnson Controls company in Alberta, is seeking an Electrical Apprentice to support the installation and commissioning of electrical systems in a manufacturing setting. You will assist with conduit, wiring, panels, sensors and control devices under a Journeyperson.

The role emphasizes adherence to the Canadian Electrical Code, safety, and evolving electrical technologies, with training toward Journeyperson certification and measurable hands-on experience.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be registered as an Apprentice Electrician with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) and actively enrolled in an approved trade school program.
  • A minimum of 500 hours of electrical experience is required.
  • Previous work experience in an industrial, commercial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical tools, materials and equipment used in manufacturing environments is an asset.
  • Experience with routine electrical maintenance operations is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Install and terminate conduit, cable, electrical equipment, panels, sensors and control components in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Assist with the construction and fabrication of control panels and perform rough‑in and finishing wiring for control systems.
  • Install interlocking wiring and assist with wiring verification and checkout in accordance with applicable codes and specifications.
  • Install electrical system components and wiring in compliance with applicable codes and standards, including the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and where applicable, NEC, NESC, NFPA and UFC.
  • Assist with the installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electrical control circuits for motors and control devices.
  • Support the preparation of material take‑offs and identification of required electrical equipment and components.
  • Assist with lockout/tagout (LOTO) and electrical isolation procedures in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Support the review of facility electrical system plans and specifications and identify opportunities for improvements to operational performance and efficiency.
  • Assist with testing installed, repaired or modified equipment to verify proper operation and performance.
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication and other basic maintenance activities as required.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in electrical technologies, codes, compliance requirements and repair techniques.
  • Monitor electrical parts and materials usage and report any shortages, discrepancies or material issues to supervision.
  • Assist in preparing preventative and predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Support quality control checks and inspection readiness by ensuring work meets drawings, specifications and applicable standards.
  • Ensure assigned tasks and project work are completed accurately in alignment with required standards.
  • Perform assigned electrical tasks under the direction of a certified Journeyperson or designated supervisor in accordance with apprenticeship requirements.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.

Position Summary

The Electrical Apprentice supports the installation,terminationand assembly of electrical systems, including conduit, cabling, equipment, panels,sensorsand control devices. Education and Work Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Previouswork experience in an industrial,commercialor manufacturing environment is preferred.

Working Conditions

Required to work in a manufacturing environment that may involve exposure to noise, moving machinery, varyingtemperaturesand otherproduction‑relatedhazards.

Required to useappropriate personalprotective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and excessive noise levels in the workplace.

Must have the physical ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 lbs.

Must have the ability to stand for extended periods throughout each shift.

Manual dexterity isrequiredto effectivelyoperatetools and equipment.

Overtime may be available occasionally based on operational needs.
