Job summary

The NARMCO Group in Guelph is hiring for an electrical apprentice. You will participate in fall protection, scissor lift operation, and safety training as you install wiring and fixtures using hand and power tools.

Responsibilities include maintenance, troubleshooting and reading electrical schematics to support production equipment. Open to all levels of apprenticeship; offers are based on skill, education and hours completed.

Qualifications

  • No experience required; apprentice level accepted.
  • EMT and wiring methods experience preferred.
  • Able to take direction from maintenance/management and work autonomously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Install electrical wiring, conduit/cable equipment, apparatus and fixtures using hand and power tools.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and install production equipment.
  • Read schematics, electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems with test equipment and hand tools.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and ESA rules; lead and educate others.
  • Support safety culture and take responsibility for safe work practices.

  • Pay or shift range: $21 CAD to $30 CAD
    The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Job Description:

  • Fall protect, scissor lift, safety training, working at heights (Government approved)
  • Install electrical wiring, conduit/cable equipment, apparatus and fixtures using hand and power tools
  • Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation of production equipment.
  • Reads and understands schematics, electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Must have necessary tools to accomplish work set forth
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components, using test equipment and hand tools.
  • Complies with all safety and ESA rules and regulations. Leads and educates fellow employees in the safe work ethics, practices and behaviors.
  • Support the safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

Required/Recommended Knowledge and Skills:

  • No experience necessary, however company is open to all levels of electrical apprentice, preference in industrial setting (metal stamping).
  • Able to take direction from maintenance and management team as well as work autonomously.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks independently
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • EMT and wiring methods experience required
  • Wage starting at $21 – $30, increasing with hours and education taken.
  • We are open to taking an apprentice in any level (0-8000 hrs) Level 1-4 etc.
