Job summary

A contracting organization based in Ontario is seeking driven apprentices in the Electrician-Construction and Maintenance (309A) trade to join their team in Waterloo. Candidates will receive hands-on training under the guidance of licensed electricians while learning essential skills in troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems. A full-time apprenticeship with competitive pay of $20.86/hr and opportunities for growth awaits the successful applicants. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and safety certifications.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid G class driver's license with a clean record is required.
  • Certifications in WHMIS, Working at Heights, and Workers Health & Safety are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Learn from a licensed electrician and complete all assigned duties.
  • Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and assist with repairs of equipment and electrical faults.
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems as instructed.

Job description

Merit OpenShop Contractors Association of Ontario manages a group sponsor which is funded by the Government of Ontario. We have employers looking to hire!

Our employer is looking to hire apprentices in the Electrician-Construction and Maintenance (309A) trade, for their team in Waterloo, ON. Candidates must be driven, focused, and prepared to follow instructions given by their assigned Journeyperson. Willingness to relocate is an asset.

To be successful as an electrician apprentice, you should demonstrate good time management and customer service skills. Outstanding candidates are highly analytical, observant and have sound knowledge of safety protocols.

Job Type: Full-time Apprenticeship

Salary: $20.86/hr

Education
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities
  • Learning from a licensed electrician and completing all assigned duties.
  • Identifying, analyzing, troubleshooting, and assisting with repairs of equipment and electrical faults.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, repairs, maintains, connects and/or tests electrical systems
  • Plans installations from blueprints, sketches, and specifications, and installs all electrical and electronic devices
  • Systematically diagnoses faults in electrical and electronic components, as required
  • Measures, cuts, threads, bends, assembles, and installs conduits and other electrical conductor raceways
  • Splices and terminates electrical conductors
  • Tests electrical and electronic equipment to ensure that they are functioning properly
  • Traveling out to various public and private spaces to assist the master electrician.
  • Interpreting blueprints and schematics.
  • Updating work logs, client accounts, and handling other administrative duties.
  • Ordering replacement parts and equipment as needed.
  • Working irregular hours and overtime when required.
  • Communicating with clients in a professional, courteous manner at all times.
  • Collaborating with construction workers, plumbers, and other crew members.
