Job summary

J&J Snack Foods Corp. in Vernon, BC, is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Technician to perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

You will read schematics, troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems, document activities in CMMS, and support safety and continuous improvement projects; a high school diploma and EMT experience are required or preferred; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational certification or associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of EMT experience in a food manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Strong understanding of food safety practices (GMP, HACCP, SQF, etc.).
• Proven ability to work with 3-phase systems, VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, and mechanical assemblies.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with CMMS platforms.
• OSHA safety training or certification.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs.
• Lean Manufacturing or TPM experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment.

• Install and maintain motors, sensors, drives, conveyors, gearboxes, and automated equipment.
• Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, PLC interfaces, and motor testers.
• Follow GMP, HACCP, and other food safety protocols during all maintenance work.
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities using CMMS.
• Assist in equipment upgrades, installations, and continuous improvement projects.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns promptly and support production needs.
• Support cross-functional teams in maintaining high standards of equipment reliability and plant performance.
• Participate in safety meetings, training, and audits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

COMPETENCIES

Pay range: $29 - $38/hour

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
