Job summary

Vancouver Community College (VCC) in Vancouver, BC is seeking an experienced eLearning Technology Specialist to provide advanced technical support, system administration, and automation for the college’s learning platforms. You will collaborate with IT, support faculty, and drive improvements across LMS tools, data retention, and privacy compliance.

Responsibilities include system upgrades, course setup, troubleshooting, documentation, and pilot projects for new edtech solutions.

Qualifications

Two-year college diploma in Computer Technology, Information Technology, Computer Systems or a related field.
2+ years of related work experience in eLearning technologies or similar.
OR an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.
Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with LMS systems such as Syllabus, PebblePad, Rise, and related tools.
Experience with automation, data retention and privacy compliance, and plugin customization.

Responsibilities

Administers and maintains e-learning systems (LMS, Syllabus, Pebblepad, Rise) and troubleshoots issues.
Responds to support requests via phone, email, and online systems; resolves course-related issues.
Coordinates with IT and vendors to schedule, plan, and test upgrades and improvements.
Assists faculty with course setup and lifecycle management; supports selecting and using ed tech tools.
Designs and implements automation systems for course creation, enrolment, and data retention.
Compiles system data for monitoring, troubleshooting, reporting and analysis.
Researches and pilots new learning tools and software solutions.
Researches policy changes related to FOIPPA, data retention, and privacy.
Evaluates LMS plugins and ed tech tools with external vendors and IT.
Investigates potential breaches of academic integrity and student grievances related to eLearning.
Develops and maintains system documentation and online knowledge bases.
Participates in communities of practice and committees as needed.
Performs other related duties.
