Job summary

ADF Group in Terrebonne, QC, is seeking an EHS Trainer to develop, coordinate, and deliver environment, health and safety training across the site. Reporting to the EHS Director, you will build training strategies, materials, and governance to strengthen safety culture and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate has 5+ years of industrial or construction EHS training experience, bilingual French/English, and strong communication and coaching skills.

Qualifications

  • At least five (5) years of experience delivering Environment, Health and Safety training in an industrial or construction environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing training materials and programs.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating and delivering training sessions.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing employee competencies and providing on-the-job coaching and support to employees and managers.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and update EHS training programs focusing on critical risks (lifting, rigging, LOTO, machine safety).
  • Develop training materials, presentations, and learning tools.
  • Plan and deliver EHS training sessions and assess knowledge/skills in the workplace.
  • Provide onboarding through the training center process and coach staff on EHS standards.
  • Maintain training matrices, qualifications, and certifications; support audits and investigations.

Reporting to the EHS Director, the EHS Trainer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering environment, health and safety training to all employees. The incumbent contributes to the development of EHS competencies, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and helps strengthen the Company’s prevention and safety culture.

This newly created role reflects the Company’s commitment to developing and continuously improving its health and safety culture. This position is ideal for an experienced professional who wants to make a meaningful impact, as the training strategy, training materials, and processes for monitoring and governance will need to be developed and implemented.

Please note that schedule flexibility is required to accommodate the needs of the evening shift. The successful candidate will have flexibility in planning their schedule accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

Training Development

  • Design, develop, and update EHS training programs, initially focusing on critical risks, including lifting and rigging, lifting equipment (overhead cranes, hoists, etc.), lockout/tagout (LOTO), and machine safety.
  • Develop training materials, presentations, and learning tools.
  • Adapt training content to the Company’s operational environment and realities.
  • Incorporate legal and regulatory requirements, internal procedures, and industry best practices into training programs.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.

Training Delivery

  • Plan and deliver EHS training sessions.
  • Assess and validate employees’ knowledge and skills in the workplace.
  • Provide EHS orientation and onboarding for new employees through the existing training center process.
  • Train and support employees, supervisors, and managers in applying EHS standards and procedures.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching to reinforce safe work practices and behaviors.
  • Participate in awareness campaigns and initiatives aimed at strengthening the Company’s EHS culture.

Monitoring and Governance

  • Maintain up-to-date training matrices, qualifications, and required certifications.
  • Manage training records and ensure their accuracy and integrity.
  • Prepare and analyze performance indicators related to training and compliance.
  • Support audits, inspections, and incident investigations by identifying training needs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A combination of education in a relevant field, such as occupational health and safety or adult education, and/or relevant experience in these areas.
  • At least five (5) years of experience delivering Environment, Health and Safety training in an industrial or construction environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing training materials and programs.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating and delivering training sessions.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing employee competencies and providing on-the-job coaching and support to employees and managers.
