Qualifications

Job description

Summary: Maintain Clack Corporation’s safety and health programs at all locations in accordance with local, state and federal laws. Coordinate safety and health efforts to allow Clack to provide a safe work environment for all employees & visitors.


Responsibilities:
  • Maintain local, state and federal compliance (OSHA, DOT, DNR, EPA, DHS, and State of Wisconsin) for required written safety programs, training, audits and documentation including but not limited to:
  1. Hazard Communication
  2. Hazardous Energy Control
  3. OSHA Reporting
  4. Personal Protective Equipment
  5. Exposure Control
  6. Powered Industrial Trucks
  7. Respiratory Protection
  8. Sara Tier II Reporting
  9. Emergency Preparedness
  10. Industrial Hygiene Testing
  11. Incident/ Near Miss Reporting
  12. Confined Space
  13. Job Safety Analysis
  14. Ergonomics
  15. CPR/First aid/AED
  16. Fire Extinguisher
  17. Hearing Conservation
  18. Overhead Crane Inspection
  19. Pressure Vessel Certification
  20. Machine Guarding
  21. Risk Assessment

  • Coordinate Safety Committee for overall effectiveness. Serves as advisory member.
  • Research and purchase necessary first aid and safety equipment (PPE) as needed.
  • Conduct and coordinate facility inspections, audits work practices and ensure that corrective action is initiated by the area accountable for the safety/health problem.
  • Assign priorities and planning to improve safety in operations while minimizing the interference with the functional integrity, intended purposes, or efficiency of the equipment, process or procedures that posed the initial safety hazard.
  • Assign priority to work orders dealing with safety related improvements.
  • Keep abreast of EPA, DNR, DOT, DHS, and OSHA safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to Clack Corporation.
  • Conduct the safety training for new hire orientation.
  • Train, counsel and advise staff on all safety issues as necessary.
  • Act as main contact with inspectors, insurance carriers, government agencies, outside consultants, etc. conducting safety, fire and physical audits. Assist management with interpretation and compliance with building and equipment code requirements.
  • Coordinate all in-house and third-party monitoring and industrial hygiene activity.
  • Investigate incidents of injury/illness and unsafe working conditions and root causes.
  • Compile and report on related statistical data to help identify opportunities for safety related improvements.
  • Manage Workers Compensation Program including Claim Initiation, Claim Status and Strategy to Resolution, Return to Work Program, Modified Light duty, and Premium and experience modifier Review.
  • Provide direct assistance with the enforcement of the company Drug and Alcohol Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Management, or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of safety codes, OSHA, EPA, DOT, DHS, and State of Wisconsin health regulations, etc.
  • Working or advanced knowledge or experience in workers compensation.
  • Five to seven years of safety experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, different levels of education with staff, vendors, visitors, etc.
  • Demonstrated training skills and abilities along with designing curriculum and teaching aides.
  • Strong interpersonal and group presentation skills required. This position will require the qualified candidate to conduct group discussions/presentations/training programs; influence and provide leadership throughout the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate professional leadership.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED training and OSHA 10/30 Construction trainer desired.
  • Professional Certifications (CSP, ASP, CHST, CUSP) preferred.
  • Proficient with computers; Word, Excel, etc.
  • May require long periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
