Job summary

Oerlikon Fort Saskatchewan seeks an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to lead site EHS programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive a culture of safety and continuous improvement. You will act as the primary EHS advisor to site leadership and manage audits, training, inspections, and incident investigations.

Ideal candidates bring 10–15 years in EHS within manufacturing, 8+ years in leadership, and experience with ISO 14001/45001.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in OH&S, environmental science, engineering or related field.
  • 10–15 years of progressive EHS experience in manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • 8+ years of EHS leadership/management experience.
  • Experience managing regulatory compliance programs.
  • Experience with investigations, audits and risk assessments.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 frameworks.
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to influence at all levels and drive continuous improvement.
  • PM/change management experience; proficient with MS Office and EHS systems.
  • Power BI and SharePoint experience is an asset.

This is a critical role that requires a strong EHS professional who can lead from the floor, influence a safety-first culture, and ensure regulatory compliance in a complex manufacturing environment. Seeking an experienced and hands‑on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)Manager to lead and continuously improve our Environmental, Health & Safety programs at our Fort Saskatchewan manufacturing facility.

Reporting to the QESH Manager, you will serve as the site's subject matter expert for all environmental, health, and safety matters. This position requires a visible presence in operations, direct employee engagement, and personal ownership of EHS initiatives, investigations, audits, training, compliance activities, and continuous improvement efforts.

What You'll Do
Environmental, Health & Safety Leadership
  • Lead and execute site EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement EHS strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary EHS advisor to site leadership.
  • Build strong partnerships with employees, supervisors, and operational teams.
Regulatory Compliance & Management Systems
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local regulations.
  • Lead and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Manage permits, registrations, compliance records, and regulatory reporting.
  • Act as the primary contact for regulatory agencies and inspections.
  • Monitor legislative changes and implement required compliance actions.
  • Conduct hazard assessments and risk evaluations.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Develop and track corrective actions to completion.
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes and project reviews.
  • Analyze trends and maintain EHS performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Lead internal, customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs.
  • Facilitate safety meetings, onboarding, and toolbox talks.
  • Lead emergency preparedness planning, drills, and response activities.
  • Manage environmental programs including waste management, emissions, spill prevention, and environmental monitoring.
  • Lead environmental incident investigations and response activities.
  • Support site sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance objectives.
What You Bring
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional EHS designation or certification considered an asset.
Experience
  • 10-15 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process environment.
  • Minimum 8 years of EHS leadership or management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing regulatory compliance programs.
  • Experience conducting investigations, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Experience working within ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Project management and change management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
  • Experience with Power BI and SharePoint is an asset.
