At National Seating & Mobility (NSM), we provide complex rehabilitation seating, mobility, and positioning systems. With a dedicated network of professionals across Canada, we specialize in delivering personalized mobility solutions that enhance independence, safety, and comfort for our clients. Our mission is to empower individuals of all ages with mobility challenges, offering reassurance to families and caregivers while providing exceptional clinical support to therapists and healthcare professionals.

We are looking for a Technician to join our team and help us continue our mission of transforming lives through mobility solutions.

Scope

As a Field Technician, the employee shall handle on-site and off-site service and repairs for medical products and equipment.

Position Reports To: Branch Manager

Role And Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  1. Deliver, set up, and install products at customers’ homes and facilities, including electric beds, walkers, raised toilet seats, stairlifts, ceiling lifts, VPLs, ramps, wheelchairs, walkers, and others.
  2. Provide in-store and out-of-store customer service, including assistance with the selection of medical products by customers and liaison with therapists.
  3. Deliver equipment, ensure it is complete and in proper working order, and instruct customers on how to adequately use the equipment.
  4. Pick up equipment from customer residences, ensuring that all components are intact and undamaged.
  5. Inform customers of additional charges if the equipment to be picked up is damaged or requires cleaning.
  6. Attend appointments at the scheduled time, contact the office if running late, and return to the office to perform in-store duties when appointments are complete.
  7. Resolve customer difficulties and build customer relations.
  8. Complete and review Wheelchair setup forms to ensure chairs are built correctly.
  9. Upload completed setup forms into the online database.
  10. Repair and adjust equipment or coordinate repairs with the store.
  11. Assist with cleaning and disinfection of rental and demonstration equipment.
  12. Return equipment to the correct location in the warehouse.
  13. Ensure all equipment has a barcode and is labeled with an NSM label.
  14. Assist other technicians when asked, including with delivery of equipment to customers and repairs.
  15. Maintain an orderly warehouse with all inventory items properly cleaned and stored.
  16. Install grab bars in customers’ homes.
  17. Develop ongoing education through product literature and in-house training on new products and services.

Competencies/Skills

  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs
  • Satisfactory proof of vaccination
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks
  • Creative troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills for email and online research
  • Experience with medical equipment is an asset
