Reporting directly to the Manager, Network Operations, the Network Infrastructure and Analytics Specialist is primarily responsible for proactive Event Management of ICG's voice and data services. Roles include the maintenance, troubleshooting, functionality, reliability, training/documentation, and expansion of the integrated network-monitoring suite of performance monitoring tools. The Specialist must collect, correlate, report faults, identify events and trends, and evaluate and correct service performance monitoring issues. Additionally, this position involves service monitoring statistical analysis and reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Ensure that ICG's Canada's Network Monitoring environment is proactively, effectively, and efficiently monitored and maintained.
- Capture the performance of all network and customer elements to ensure immediate identification and addressing of trouble events by NOCC and support agents.
- Optimize system operations and resource utilization; perform system capacity analysis and planning.
- Manage network servers and technology tools.
- Participate in troubleshooting issues and outages.
- Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls.

- Basic computer skills with Windows and Linux OS; Nagios, Zabbix, PRTG, Spectrum Monitoring tools.
- Cisco, Juniper, Ericsson network gear; Fortinet and Pulse VPN solutions.
- Metaswitch and SBC for voice solutions.
- Cloud and Docker environments for TV solutions.
CREDENTIALS :
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of Systems Administration or Analysis experience (Unix/Linux).
- Strong knowledge of systems, networking software, hardware, and protocols.
- In-depth knowledge of monitoring tools and SNMP.
- Familiarity with Cisco and Juniper network devices (routers, switches).
- Basic skills in PowerShell, Bash, Perl, PHP, Python, and Groovy scripting languages.
- Experience with web server configurations (Apache, Nginx, IIS, Tomcat).
- Experience with Nagios, SolarWinds, Zabbix, PRTG is required.
- Familiarity with HP, Dell, and Cisco server hardware preferred.
- Experience with APM monitoring solutions (Dynatrace, AppDynamics) is highly recommended.
- Experience with synthetic web transaction monitoring solutions (Uptrends, Solarwinds).
- Knowledge of ELK stacks (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
- Proficiency in SSL certificate provisioning and management.
- Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Relevant system administration and IT certifications are a plus.
- Certifications like CompTIA Linux+, LPIC-1/2, RHCSA, or PCEP are advantageous.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS :
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with technical and non-technical colleagues.
SKILLS & ABILITIES :
- Solid Linux skills.
- Experience with Logstash configuration for log parsing, filtering, and enrichment.
- Proficiency in Kibana for data visualization and analytics.

- Understanding of infrastructure and application observability.
- Ability to develop and maintain modern monitoring solutions.
- Experience with synthetic monitoring platforms (Uptrends, Datadog, New Relic).

- Knowledge of networking concepts, security principles, and data protection.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining network management hardware and software.
