POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer or delegate, the Communications Coordinator will lead, develop, implement, and evaluate communication strategies to support the internal and external communications of the hospital.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaboration: Work closely with the President and CEO, as well as the senior leadership team, to ensure communication strategies support the organization’s strategic plan, identify areas where communication efforts are needed, and share news with varied audiences. Prepare speaking notes and presentations for senior management and board members.
- Storytelling: Proactively find, write, and communicate TADH patient and organizational stories to audiences across the organization and at the local and provincial level. Continually update the TADH narrative to ensure it remains relevant and resonates with target audiences.
- External communications: Use appropriate strategies to tell the TADH story to target audiences at the local, provincial, and national levels. Maintain positive relationships with local elected officials, government partners, and health and social service partners. Lead the development of various reports for public release.
- Internal communications: Maintain a positive organizational culture by writing and sharing weekly messages, coordinating the development of the monthly President and CEO Report, managing newsletters for staff, sharing operational communications as required, and facilitating staff meetings.
- TADH Foundation: Maintain a positive working relationship with Foundation staff, identify opportunities for collaboration, and develop a schedule for regular meetings to share ideas and products that support storytelling for both the Foundation and the Hospital.
- Government Relations and Partnership Development: Manage and strengthen relationships with local and provincial elected officials, government ministries, and health and social service partners across the district and province.
- Crisis Communications: Manage proactive communication efforts to prevent crises when possible. In the event of a crisis, coordinate communication strategies effectively.
- Website: Ensure content accuracy, design, and accessibility, keeping information up to date.
- Multimedia: Lead the development, production, and dissemination of original content, including videos, photography, and other interactive media for TADH’s channels.
- Social Media: Manage TADH's social media accounts, ensuring compelling content is shared consistently.
- Media: Coordinate media relations, prepare staff for media interviews, act as the first contact for inquiries, and manage media releases and advisories. Track media stories about TADH and follow up on inaccuracies. Accompany media on hospital premises to ensure privacy and policy adherence.
- Visual Identity: Ensure all materials align with visual identity standards and meet French Language Services requirements. Participate in hospital event marketing and branding efforts.
- Represent the hospital on committees and in meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree/Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field, or relevant experience in communications.
- Superior creativity and analytical skills.
- Understanding of the creative process in a corporate environment.
- Knowledge of online platforms, analytics, and their application to communication strategies.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Knowledge of hospital accountability requirements.
- Ability to work independently, identify issues, plan improvements, measure success, and pursue continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities under challenging deadlines.
- Discretion and maturity in handling confidential information.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Rate of Pay: To be determined based on experience and certification.
- Option to enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
