The Neighbourhood Group (TNG) is a multi-service agency that includes Central Neighbourhood House, Neighbourhood Link Support Services, and St. Stephen’s Community House.

Position: Employment Advisor - Bilingual (Regular Full-time, CUPE 7797#)

Reporting To: Senior Manager, Employment Services

Hourly Rate: $29

Job Description

The Employment Advisor - Bilingual provides case management in a client-centered and solution-focused manner to job seekers in English and at least one community language (Bengali, Urdu, and/or Hindi). The role involves helping clients find and maintain sustainable employment, collaborating with a team of employment services professionals, and supporting clients facing multiple barriers to employment.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Meeting service delivery objectives such as client intake, outcomes, and performance targets outlined in funding agreements.
  2. Conducting thorough assessments of clients’ skills, education, experience, assets, barriers, motivation, goals, and employment readiness using the Common Assessment tool.
  3. Assisting clients in identifying employment goals and pathways, exploring local labour market trends, decent work opportunities, apprenticeships, self-employment options, and available resources.
  4. Helping clients develop job search tools such as resumes, cover letters, networking strategies, job search tracking, and interview skills, utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) where appropriate.
  5. Referring clients to supportive services within TNGCS or through other community agencies, learning institutions, or government programs to reduce barriers and promote sustainable employment.
  6. Developing and facilitating group workshops, including job finding clubs, basic computer skills, online applications, and current job search tools.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Career Development, Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, Adult Education) with at least two years of related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and at least one South Asian language (preferably Bengali, Urdu, or Hindi).
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, client-focused service in a professional, positive, and compassionate manner.
  • Knowledge of the local labour market, community resources, government programs, job search techniques, and issues related to unemployment.
  • Strong digital literacy, including MS Office, AI applications, and database use.
  • Experience with Case Management Systems, preferably EOIS CaMS and/or WCG.
  • Willingness to work at various sites within Toronto as required.
