Qualifications

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

The successful applicant may be eligible for an annual full-time incentive of up to $2,000 each year until 2025 as per MOU #31 of the current MNU collective agreement.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of, and in collaboration with the manager, the Clinical Resource Nurse is responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise to nurses. The CRN assumes a leadership role in coordinating patient care within the healthcare tam to ensure quality patient care outcomes, and promote an interdisciplinary patient centered approach to care based on best practice. Demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals and objectives of the region/facility/unit.

Experience
  • Minimum three years within the past 5 years recent related clinical nursing experience in Nephrology nursing and demonstrated strong leadership skills in the applicable area.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing (RN) education program (BN preferred); or
  • Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) education Program.
  • Successful completion of the Manitoba Nephrology Nursing Course (MNNC) or a post-basic Nephrology Nursing program as recognized by the Centre is required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Current Manitoba registration with CRNM or CLPNM in good standing is required.
  • Active participation in professional associations preferred, eg. Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM), College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) or College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM).
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nursing Certificate (CNCC) preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with Employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of:
    • College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.
    • Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
    • Scope of practice as documented in the Registered Nurses Act; or
    • Manitoba Standards of Practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
    • Code of Ethics for Licensed Practice Nurses and Scope of Practice.
    • Regional/Facility/Unit policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Nursing care knowledge related to clinical area.
    • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
    • Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team.
    • Principles of delegation.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Preferences will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Ability to prioritize care for an individual patient or group of patients.
  • Ability to delegate care appropriately and monitor outcomes of delegated care.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities.

Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
  • Hours of work are flexible and may include evening, night or weekend shifts as required.
