Job description

At SMS Equipment, our Technology Solutions Experts are responsible for all aspects of SMS’s machine control systems, primarily the industry-leading integrated line of grade control construction equipment (Intelligent Machine Control) as well as aftermarket add-on products. We are seeking an experienced specialist with strong troubleshooting skills. This position is located in Surrey, BC, or the Lower Mainland.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $95,000 – $105,000 and is eligible for the incentive program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Geomatic / Machine Control: Assist customers with calibrating system controls, ensuring machine precision, and understanding computer-aided drafting, GIS, and GPS systems.
2. Technical Presentations: Deliver demonstrations of machine control capabilities, promote solutions, and highlight product features and benefits using data analysis.
3. Technical Support: Troubleshoot system errors, provide technical advice, conduct product training, and develop training courses as needed.
4. Operations Support: Act as a liaison between branches, customers, and suppliers for technical resolutions and provide feedback for product improvements.
5. Travel: Responsible for serving a designated region, requiring travel to support all machines related to Smart Construction within that area.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a Degree or Diploma in Geomatics Technology, Land Surveying, or GIS. Experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician working with smart equipment is also considered. Additional requirements include:

1. Experience with GPS machine control systems (e.g., Topcon, Trimble, Leica).
2. Experience in a dealership or construction company preferred.
3. 10+ years working with smart equipment.
4. Understanding of Total Stations and GPS control systems.
5. Self-disciplined, organized, and solutions-oriented.
6. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
7. Effective influencing and communication skills.
8. Valid Class 5 / G driver’s license.
