Job Description
Summit Search Group has been retained by Manitoba Hydro on the recruitment of a highly skilled and experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to join their Grid Infrastructure Planning Department. Manitoba Hydro is a Crown corporation and one of the most reliable and customer-focused energy utilities in North America. With nearly all of its electricity generated from clean, renewable hydroelectric sources, Manitoba Hydro provides power to over 600,000 electric customers and more than 280,000 natural gas customers across Manitoba. It owns and operates an extensive network of stations, transmission lines, and distribution systems, making it a critical part of the province’s infrastructure. Manitoba Hydro also plays a key role in regional energy markets by exporting electricity to neighbouring provinces and U.S. states.
The Position:
In this strategic role, you will be responsible for overseeing complex power system planning studies that assess the performance, reliability, and security of Manitoba’s high-voltage transmission network. You will lead a team of engineers in conducting detailed simulations and analyses related to station interconnections, transmission service requests, and system expansions that impact the development of the provincial and interprovincial power grid. As a key technical authority, you will also contribute to regulatory compliance efforts, advise on infrastructure investment decisions, and collaborate with external stakeholders including neighbouring utilities and regulatory bodies. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with a deep understanding of power system operations and planning, strong analytical capabilities, and a proven ability to lead technical teams in delivering results that support long-term energy strategy and reliability objectives.
