Qualifications

• Masters or Bachelors in Occupational Therapy required.
• Licensure with the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia is mandatory.

About the Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist (OT) works under the supervision of the Manager of Rehabilitation Services. The OT works in collaboration with the client, caregivers, and family to facilitate, restore, and/or maintain the patient/client's optimal level of function in the areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure. The OT provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up while working within the hospital, the client's home, and/or their community. The OT, in collaboration with the client, establishes individualized treatment plans and goals, independently manages a busy caseload, and uses clinical judgement and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis. The OT provides education and support to clients, families, and caregivers. The OT functions as both a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and an interprofessional hospital and/or community healthcare team. The OT contributes to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines and to the supervision of OT Assistants. The OT is responsible for adhering to Nova Scotia Health policies and procedures and to the professional standards of their licensing body, the Nova Scotia College of Occupational Therapists. The successful applicant may be required to provide services anywhere within the Rehabilitation Services portfolio.

About You

• Masters or Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy
• Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other healthcare providers, and staff
• Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
• Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
• Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
• Access to reliable transportation
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

• Long Assignment, Part-time position; 45 hours bi-weekly
• This position is approximately 13 months in length
• Some travel between sites may be required.

Compensation and Benefits

$35.86 - $45.29 Hourly
