Procurement Project Lead

MAJOR DUTIES

Reports To: Group Lead, Project Procurement

As the Procurement Project Lead, you'll be at the forefront of managing and forecasting the Project Management material budget. You'll act as the vital link between the project team and the supply chain, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strategic Planning: Review the as-sold cost book and spearhead the creation of the project procurement plan with robust support from the project team.

• Risk Management: Identify long lead risk materials and collaborate with project management on innovative risk mitigation strategies.

• Component Selection: Challenge and review project standard component selections to ensure optimal choices.

• Kick-off Coordination: Schedule and lead project procurement kick-off meetings to set the stage for success.

• Execution Planning: Participate in project execution planning meetings to guarantee timely delivery of project parts through all phases.

• Weekly Updates: Provide weekly updates on the project procurement plan, including forecasts, escalations, and risk assessments.

• Issue Resolution: Resolve any issues with requisitions or drawings promptly.

• Communication: Offer updates as needed for project DVM/whiteboard meetings.

• Liaison Role: Serve as the liaison between the project team and supply chain buyers.

• Supplier Management: Escalate supplier issues and support mitigation planning.

• Design Reviews: Attend and actively participate in design reviews to achieve cost-effective solutions.

• Product Understanding: Gain a deep understanding of the product from initial design and provide early input on ease and cost of supply.

• Cost Metrics: Maintain regular product material cost metrics for each project and meet project cost requirements.

• Cost Savings: Perform ongoing reviews to identify new opportunities for cost savings in products, services, equipment, and expenses.

• Benchmarking: Utilize historical and other benchmarking data to ensure competitive pricing (PPV).

• Post-Project Review: Create and attend post-project reviews to reflect on successes and areas for improvement.

• Design Support: Provide design support related to the construction of CSA B51 and CSA N285.0 pressure boundary components within the ATS Certificate of Authorization as required.

• Quality Compliance: Strictly adhere to CSA N285/NQA Quality requirements as defined within the manual and procedures.

• ISO Procedures: Follow all ISO procedures and departmental policies and procedures.

• Ethical Standards: Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.

• Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• A post-secondary diploma or degree in materials management or equivalent work experience.

• Supply Chain Canada (or equivalent) designation is an asset.

• PMP training or certification is an asset.

• Manufacturing or Engineering education or experience is an asset.

Experience:

• A minimum of five years of experience in a custom-manufacturing environment.

• Advanced knowledge of MS Office software, including Excel (pivot tables & VLOOKUP) and PowerPoint (presentations).

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.

• Proven organizational and negotiation skills.

• Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.

• Ability to interact effectively in a team environment.

• Ability to lead initiatives on a cross-functional team.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in a team environment.

• Proven project management skills.

• Experience developing and applying a project material procurement plan.

• Ability to manage large data files derived from ERP systems.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
