What you’ll be doing

As a member of the Personal and Business Banking team, you’ll work in a fast-paced Banking Centre where you’ll make a meaningful difference in our clients' lives. As an Associate Financial Advisor, you’ll develop a deep understanding of your personal and small business clients’ needs and recommend simple, personalized solutions to help them achieve their financial goals. You’ll manage, either individually or as part of a team, a portfolio of mortgage clients with a focus on deepening client relationships. You should be flexible to work our banking centre hours, which may include evenings and weekends, and be willing to work at multiple banking centres within a reasonable travel distance.

At CIBC, we enable an optimal work environment for you to thrive. To perform your role successfully, you’ll be on-site full-time.

How you’ll succeed
  • Client engagement: Meet with clients to understand their personal and business priorities, advise on solutions, and provide forward-looking financial plans. Ensure clients’ investment, financial, and credit needs are met by offering comprehensive retail banking services or introducing them to appropriate colleagues.
  • Relationship building: Engage in marketing and outreach to show clients you value them and their communities. Grow your network, deepen relationships, and work as a team to connect clients with the right people and opportunities.
  • Business development: Network with clients’ families and friends to uncover opportunities and refer to partners. Contact existing and potential clients to identify growth opportunities. Participate in community and banking centre events to enhance CIBC’s presence and market share.
  • Leveraging technology: Become proficient with our mobile banking applications and introduce clients to these tools to enhance their banking experience.
Who you are
  • You put our clients first: Engage purposefully to find the right solutions and go the extra mile.
  • You’re goal-oriented: Motivated by achieving goals and making a difference.
  • You notice details: Your critical thinking informs your decisions.
  • You’re passionate about people: You value relationships and connect with others through respect and authenticity.
  • You love to learn: Curious and eager to grow your knowledge.
  • You have 2-3 years of experience: Proven experience providing financial advice and achieving sales results through advice-based conversations.
  • You hold relevant certifications: Current accreditation and good standing in Mutual Funds License (Canadian Securities Course or Investment Funds in Canada), and meet eligibility for CIRO-MFD licensing. Additional certifications like CFSA are a plus.
  • Values matter: You bring your authentic self and embody trust, teamwork, and accountability.
What CIBC Offers

We aim to provide a career, not just a paycheck, with benefits including a competitive salary, incentive pay, banking benefits, a comprehensive benefits plan, a defined benefit pension, an employee share purchase plan, generous vacation, wellbeing support, and MomentMakers recognition program.

Our spaces and tools foster collaboration and innovation to serve our clients better. We also support your growth with initiatives like Purpose Day, a paid day off dedicated for your development.
