Job description

Position: Rail Design Project Manager

STV is seeking a Rail Design Project Manager in our New York, NY office within the Transportation Group.

Position Description

The Rail Design Project Manager will lead railway infrastructure design projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality, and project timelines and budgets. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable rail solutions, reporting to the Rail Group Supervisor.

Responsibilities
  1. Project Planning: Define project scope, objectives, and requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.
  2. Design Development: Use engineering principles and software tools like MicroStation, InRail, Open Rail, AutoCAD, Civil 3D to develop railway system designs.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure projects adhere to safety, accessibility, and environmental regulations and standards such as AREMA, CPUC, AAR, and FRA.
  4. Risk Assessment: Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  5. Budget and Schedule Management: Monitor project budgets and timelines, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  6. Stakeholder Communication: Report progress, milestones, and issues to clients, agencies, contractors, and team members.
  7. Documentation: Prepare reports, drawings, and specifications per standards and client needs.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate innovative solutions.
  9. Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior staff to foster a productive environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • PE license preferred.
  • 15+ years in railway engineering related to design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, InRail, Open Rail, AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of railway standards like AREMA, CPUC, AAR, FRA.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
Compensation Range

$143,684.68 - $191,579.57
