Job Summary

We are currently looking to fill an opportunity for an EEG Technologist at Royal Columbian Hospital located in New Westminster, B.C.. This is a Relief Full-Time position available until April 2027, or until return of incumbent.

Overview

Royal Columbian Hospital is conveniently located adjacent to the Sapperton SkyTrain station on the Expo Line, accessible by public transit for patients and staff. The Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment Project (RCHRP) is a multi-year, multi-phase project to increase the hospital's capacity, beds, and services. RCH first opened in 1862 and is a regional centre of excellence for trauma, critical care, cardiac care, maternity, neonatal intensive care, and neurosurgery. New Westminster is known for its waterfront views along the Fraser River and is part of the Greater Vancouver region.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts and records EEG tests on patients using digital equipment; adjusts equipment during tests and takes measurements to identify abnormalities.
  • Formulates technical preliminary reports by analyzing recordings, describing abnormal manifestations, and forwarding impressions to Neurologists for diagnosis.
  • Prepares for tests by reviewing requisitions, case history, and determines test approach; obtains patient history, explains procedure, applies electrodes, and monitors comfort to obtain required results.
  • Sets up and monitors Carotid Endarterectomy during OR procedures and advises the Surgeon of any changes during the procedure.
  • Ensures equipment is functioning correctly and reports issues; cleans electrodes and calibrates equipment to ensure accurate records.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment; provides input into capital equipment acquisitions and budget information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience

Graduation from a recognized program in Electroneurophysiology Technology plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Eligible for registration with the Canadian Board of Registration of Electroneurophysiology Technologists (CBRET) and/or the Board of Registered Electromyography Technologists of Canada (BRETC).
