Job Description: The Primary Care Nursing Coordinator reports to the Manager of Primary Health Care. The incumbent will have an in-depth understanding of the principles of primary care nursing. They will coordinate programs within primary health care (including but not limited to colorectal screening, breast health screening, sexual health, communicable disease, health education; as well as chronic and acute disease management). They are accountable for risk management, quality improvement, and employee and patient safety within the Primary Care clinical setting. They are responsible for the assessment of staff learning needs and coordination of training. They will assist in the implementation and evaluation of nursing specialty practice documents and work standards in alignment with SHA clinical standards. They will keep current through maintaining licensure as a registered nurse and through providing direct patient care as determined in consultation with the Manager of Primary Health Care. This is a regional position where travel is required.

Education and Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license - travel required • BLS-CPR Certification • PALS, ACLS and ITLS Certification (completed or completion within 6 months of hire) • Skills in leadership Experience: • Minimum of three to five full-time years’ experience working in a primary care, acute and/or emergency care setting • An equivalent of education and experience may be considered Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Ability to develop work plans in a fast paced, complex environment • Able to contribute to strategic planning in a fast paced, complex environment • Leadership skills • Organizational skills • Decision making skills • Ability to work under pressure and establish priorities • Knowledge of current health care issues/trends developments • Ability to build and maintain relationships based on trust and accountability • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills • Problem solving skills • Commitment to continuous learning through education programs • Knowledge and skill in quality improvement and patient safety • Knowledge in organization’s goals, vision, mission and values • Ability to work effectively with a broad range of health and social agencies • Knowledge in community development • Knowledge in capacity building • Knowledge in ethnic and cultural diversity • Clinical skills • Sound clinical judgment skills
