Qualifications

  • At least 5 years related experience, preferably in energy market analysis.
  • Experience in natural gas trading and scheduling is advantageous.
  • Supply chain management experience.

Job description

As a Natural Gas Trader, you will be an integral part of our Natural Gas Supply & Trading team supporting the Refining & Supply Operations. The Natural Gas Team monitors supply and demand trends, ensures product availability, and maximizes returns. The trader executes physical trades, develops trading strategies in compliance with company policies, analyzes market conditions, and manages scheduling duties across North American pipelines.

Your Responsibilities :

  1. Execute daily spot, monthly & term trades per company policies
  2. Evaluate and respond to RFP opportunities
  3. Understand natural gas usage across business units and related issues
  4. Negotiate NAESB contracts and engage internal stakeholders for terms verification
  5. Negotiate contract terms for buy/sell agreements
  6. Participate in pipeline contract negotiations and execute service agreements
  7. Support development and execution of trading and scheduling strategies
  8. Perform on-call trading and scheduling duties
  9. Analyze market data to inform trading strategies
  10. Develop and implement strategies for economic optimization
  11. Identify opportunities for seasonal and long-term planning
  12. Respond to maintenance and turnaround activities with strategic adjustments
  13. Support risk management with analyses for hedging strategies
  14. Grow the business by identifying new opportunities and customers
  15. Maintain relationships with counterparties and brokers
  16. Present strategies and performance to senior management
  17. Collaborate with internal teams and ensure deliverables are met
  18. Stay informed on market trends, regulations, and contracts
  19. Work with the Energy Transition team on RNG integration

Your Skills :

  • Strong analytical skills and stakeholder relationship management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint

Your Experience :

  • Post-secondary education in relevant disciplines or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years related experience, energy market analysis preferred
  • Experience in natural gas trading and scheduling is advantageous
  • Supply chain management experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with negotiation and problem-solving skills
