Solution Architect

Apex Systems is a large staffing and consulting firm and we are looking for a Solutions Architect with 5+ Years of true Solutions Architect experience, strong banking experience with knowledge of AWS and React expertise to place at our client, a Big Five Bank. You will be joining a highly collaborative and high performing team.

Client: Big Five Bank

Contract: You will start ASAP and current contract is approved until 10/31/2025 with an extremely highly likelihood for extension. Initial duration is short due to fiscal year of the bank.

Length of Contract: 4-5 months, high likelihood of extension

Location: Downtown Toronto - 2 days/week in office (Tuesday and Thursday)

Hours: standard business hours, 37.5hrs/week

Group Mandate: As part of our client's ambition to becoming a Digital First organization, Asset Management (GAM) is undergoing a transformation to modernize our digital capabilities and engagement. The Architect role would become an integral part of the newly established Asset Management Digital Technology Team. This persistent team would focus on driving key innovation and digital initiatives in an agile iterative environment, delivering new and updated “products” faster to market, reducing delays by empowering teams, simplifying decision making, facilitating quick adoption, reducing manual processes, and increasing automation.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage technical solutions for Wealth Global Asset Management Digital Agile Team, including platforms on AWS and React
• Build effective solutions based on business requirements, as clarified by Product Owner and BSA
• Produce conceptual and logical architectures to meet strategic business, financial and technology objectives through documentation of systems, architectures, process flows and value-chains
• Ensure adherence of the solutions design with all relevant internal standards and external regulations.
• Manage trade-offs between speed to market, quality and financial impact
• Work alongside Product Owner and Business Analyst to clarify application requirements
• Attend requirements sessions and daily stand-up meetings
• Clarify application components and consolidate requirements to account managers, which are further extended to the business for approval
• Work alongside the Enterprise Architecture team to gage the feasibility of application enhancements/creation and answer:
• Are these requirements feasible to implement?
• Are these requirements properly aligned with existing application features/limitations?
• How will this solution look once completed?
• Present and defend the solution at various governance forums.

Key Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Solution Architect experience in a large, enterprise level environment
• 10+ years of experience in enterprise, application and information architecture design
• 5+ years of software development experience (no specific software development experience specified)
• Banking Experience
• Strong understanding of service-oriented architecture, databases, and data modeling techniques
• Strong experience with real-time and batch interface design and implementations, including sequence diagrams and documentation
• Strong understanding of React framework
• Strong experience and understanding of applications sitting on AWS and API architecture
• Strong experience with database structures and relational database design and modeling
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Previous banking/finance experience
• Previous experience working on digitization projects

Soft Skills:
