Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a dependable, highly motivated individual for the position of Environmental Services I (cleaner/housekeeper) at the University of Alberta Hospital. This Regular Part-Time role involves high-quality work and safety, with training provided on cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, clinical areas, and other hospital spaces according to AHS standards. Responsibilities include cleaning medical equipment and manual material handling. The role aims to ensure hospitals are properly cleaned and maintained for a healthy environment. Shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
As an Environmental Services I, you will perform routine cleaning and disinfecting tasks in healthcare environments. Duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restocking supplies, stripping linen, remaking beds, replenishing cleaning supplies and linens, and reporting hazards to your supervisor.
Additional Details:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent, knowledge of computer operation including Microsoft Office, physical ability to stand, walk, perform repetitive movements, and lift up to 22 lbs.
Ability to operate a smartphone, access email, read/write/speak English, dependable, thorough, able to work independently, and handle chemical cleaners safely. Relevant education, training, or experience considered. Attendance at a 4-day Environmental Services Orientation and a 1-day AHS Orientation is required.
At least 1 year of hospital or institutional cleaning experience, knowledge of WHMIS, and safety courses are assets.
