The Registered Staff Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescribed pharmaceuticals and compounds, and providing consultative services to clients and healthcare providers, in compliance with all laws and responsibilities set by the Provincial Regulatory Body and McKesson Canada. The Senior Manager, Pharmacy or Pharmacist Supervisor role is a successor role for the Pharmacists.
Specific Responsibilities :
These generally include, but are not limited to:
- Filling, verifying, and dispensing medications accurately.
- Supervising pharmacy staff including caseworkers, assistants, and technicians.
- Providing patient counseling and follow-up services for dispensed prescriptions.
- Ensuring prescription pricing accuracy and establishing payment methods.
- Delivering prescriptions to appropriate sites as per patient requests, regulations, and cold chain requirements.
- Offering customer service to clients and stakeholders (patients, healthcare professionals, industry partners, etc.).
- Adapting, renewing, and initiating prescriptions following the Provincial College’s rules and regulations, working within the full scope of practice.
- Providing medical information to patients and healthcare professionals as needed.
- Adhering to all relevant guidelines, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
- Submitting adverse events and product quality complaints.
- Working flexibly across shifts during pharmacy operating hours.
- Ensuring staff compliance with pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Upholding McKesson i2Care and iLead principles and the McKesson Code of Conduct.
- Maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Adhering to privacy requirements.
- Monitoring accounts receivable and temperature controls.
- Completing all required training and other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements :
- Bachelor or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
- Valid license in good standing with the applicable College of Pharmacists
- Professional Liability Insurance
Skills and Abilities :
- Knowledge of retail pharmacy practice
- Understanding of biologics and specialty medications
- Self-directed and independent work capability
- Proficiency with Kroll and its capabilities
- Clinical expertise in major therapeutic areas for Specialty Pharmacy
- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- MS Office proficiency
Experiences :
- At least one year of full-time experience in hospital or retail pharmacy
- Bilingualism (English/French) or multilingual skills are assets
- Experience in clinical trials, medication reimbursement, or regulatory environments is beneficial
Supervision and Communication :
- Communication with PSP, Navigation, INVIVA clinics, medical clinics, pharmacy, patients, and drug plans
- No direct reports
