Job summary

CSSMB in Montreal seeks an educator for daycare services within a school environment. You will engage students with indoor and outdoor activities, help with meals, ensure safety, and communicate daily with families. The role supports students needing help with schoolwork in a respectful, inclusive setting.

Requirements include a DES + AEP or DEC in related fields and a minimum of one year of experience. Valid first aid with allergy management and passing the CSSMB French exam are required.

Qualifications

• Must have training in daycare in a school setting or related field.
• Includes one year of experience in daycare/educational support.
• First aid with allergy management or technician qualification for daycare/school environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and adapt activities indoors/outdoors as per programming.
• Assist with meals/snacks, maintaining hygiene and etiquette.
• Ensure student supervision and safety per rules and parental guidance.
• Daily communication with parents and exchange of information.
• Support students with homework in a conducive learning environment.
• Contribute to intervention plans for students with disabilities or learning needs.
• Assist daycare technician with administrative tasks.
• Perform related tasks as required.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Participate in the execution of activities such as sports, cultural, recreational, and playful activities, both indoors and outdoors, according to the established programming and in accordance with educational intervention methods; Create certain games and crafts adapted to their students;

• Assist students in preparing and taking their meals and snacks while ensuring that hygiene and etiquette rules are respected;

• Ensure the supervision and safety of students in accordance with conduct rules, safety measures, and parents' recommendations;

• Respond to parents' questions and exchange relevant information with them daily;

• Provide support to students who wish it in completing schoolwork by ensuring a conducive climate and environment for doing homework and lessons;

• Participate in meetings aimed at developing an intervention plan to share observations and make relevant suggestions regarding the student with disabilities or difficulties in adaptation or learning and apply the measures retained within the limits of their function; Collaborate in the follow-up of the files of the students concerned;

• Assist the technician in the daycare service in carrying out certain administrative tasks;

• Perform, as needed, any other related tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma (DES) + Vocational studies certificate (AEP) in daycare services in a school environment + Minimum one year of experience
  OR

• High school diploma (DES) + College studies certificate (AEC) in early childhood + Minimum one year of experience
  OR

• College diploma (DEC) in early childhood education, special education, daycare services, recreation and leisure, social work, or delinquency intervention + Minimum one year of experience
  OR

• Certificate in intervention in intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders, mental health, victimology, youth intervention, early childhood and family, educational support in educational daycare services, early childhood education, psychosocial intervention, or support in primary education + Minimum one year of experience
  OR

• Bachelor's degree in psychoeducation, education (Ottawa), school adaptation, teaching (if relevant), or major in child studies + Minimum one year of experience.

In addition to meeting one of the above criteria:

• Have a valid first aid certificate with allergy management (or be qualified as a technician in daycare and school environment) and have passed the CSSMB French exam.
