The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is seeking a seasonal, full-time Educator Development Assistant. The Educator Development Assistant is a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic position that contributes to the organization, delivery, and evaluation of an annual educator in-service. The Assistant will oversee all logistical details for participants, presenters, and staff, and ensure accurate expense tracking. This role supports a project aimed at improving environmental literacy among Canadians by integrating environmental education into educator training and professional development and involves some travel within Southern Alberta.

Contract:

  • Start Date: June 2025
  • End Date: August 2025

What you will do:

  • Coordinate and communicate travel details for participants, presenters, and staff.
  • Book amenities for a seven-day in-service (e.g., vehicle rental, hotels, meals).
  • Maintain accurate expense tracking.
  • Assist with in-service content planning, participate in collaborator meetings, and follow up post in-service.
  • Assist with delivery of in-service at multiple venues.
  • Support project communications and community awareness efforts.

What you will bring:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • At least 2 years of administrative experience required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Experience or interest in working with educators.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift light loads (up to 30 lbs), set up and take down tables and chairs, and pull a wagon of resources.
  • Some desk and computer work.

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is an outdoor facility; staff must be comfortable working in various outdoor conditions. We follow Environment Canada’s advice on temperature and air quality issues.
