Compass Early Learning and Care (CELC) invites applications for a School Age Educator in Lindsay, Ontario. The role supports after-school programming in a kindergarten/school-age classroom, focusing on engaging activities and active supervision to promote holistic development.

You will work 15 hours weekly, with potential additional hours from the supply registry, and full-time hours during PA days and school breaks, depending on program needs and funding.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years’ experience working with children and youth.
  • Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Valid Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators OR pursuing their ECE diploma OR alternative childcare designation eligible for Director's Approval.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities reflecting children’s interests.
  • Maintain active supervision of children while engaging in play.
  • Document children’s learning progress through observation and reflection.
  • Create and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Assist children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in learning.

You will spend your time engaging, connecting, and learning alongside children, families, community partners, and co-workers. You are passionate about early learning and care, emergent curriculum, and lifelong learning. You are energetic, resourceful, and creative in your pursuits of creating learning opportunities, building connections, and engaging with children and families. This position will be working in a kindergarten or school-age classroom.You will work 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 3 pm to 6 pm in after-school programming, with the opportunity to pick up some additional hours during the day from our Supply registry. Full days During PA days, Winter break, March break, and Summer break, this role will work full-time hours.Hours will be based on the needs and funding of the program.Some accountabilities associated with the role include:Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children’s unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.Documenting children’s learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.Skills and Qualifications:Requirements:1-3 years’ experience working with children and youth.Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.Valid certifications, including a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid, and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records.Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood EducatorsOR is currently pursuing or is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.OR has an alternative childcare designation that is eligible for Director's Approval (i.e., Child and Youth, Recreation and Leisure, and Ontario Certified Teachers - Primary and Junior)How to Apply:To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter through this job board or by sending your cover letter and resume to careers@compaselc.com.
