FULL-TIME TEMPORARY CONTRACT

Note: There is no guarantee of the duration of the assignment.

Educational Assistants support students in achieving success across academic, behavioral, social, life skills, and co-op situations. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, they contribute to students' learning development and integration by creating a safe and supportive environment.

Positions may require physical assistance such as toileting, diapering, feeding, lifting, transferring, positioning, and mobility support. Educational Assistants may rotate through different school areas to meet diverse student needs across various grade levels.

Requirements for All Educational Assistant Positions

• A relevant university degree or a two-year college diploma in human services (e.g., Behavioural Sciences related to ABA, Child and Youth Worker, Child Care Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Early Childhood Education, Educational Assistant Special Needs Support, Human Services Administration, Registered Nurse, Sign Language Communicator/Interpreter, Social Service Worker, or Ontario Teaching Certificate).
• Behavior Management Systems (BMS) training is required for most positions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.

Additional Details

• Experience working with students with ASD, behavior management techniques, assistive technology, and augmentative communication knowledge are preferred.
• Positions involve working with students from kindergarten to intermediate levels in regular classrooms and learning centers.
• Participation in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for full-time employees.
