Job summary

Simcoe County District School Board is seeking an Educational Assistant (1.0 FTE, Temporary Full-time, 35 hours/week) in Barrie, Ontario. The EA will support students across academic, behavioral, social and life-skill areas as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic school setting.

Required qualifications include a university degree or a two-year college diploma in a human services field, plus BMS training, strong communication, and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications

• All EA positions require a relevant university degree or a two-year college diploma in the human services field.
• BMS training is required.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience with ASD and behaviour management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support students to achieve success in academic, behavior, social, life skills and co-op situations.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, supportive learning environment.
• May rotate through the school to meet the needs of students in multiple groupings and grade levels.
