Job summary

Qualifications

• College diploma or university degree in a related field as listed.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
• Training in specialized supports (BMS, NVCI, ABA, ASL) is an asset.
• Experience in child/youth education or student support settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or group educational, socio-emotional, or mental health supports.
• Assist in applying specialized environments and learning strategies for students needing additional support.
• Rotate through the school to meet student needs across multiple groupings and grades.
• Support daily supervision schedules and implement accommodations as required.

Education

College Diploma in Educational Assistant/ECE/Child & Youth Care/DSW/SSW or related

University Degree in Child Development/Psychology/Sociology/Education

First Aid/CPR certification (asset)

Job Summary

Oneida Nation of the Thames is a First Nation Settlement located near the City of London, Ontario. Standing Stone School offers FDK through Grade 6 programming for approximately 190 students. Reporting to the Principal of Standing Stone School, the Educational Assistant will provide one-on-one or group educational, socio-emotional, or mental health supports. The Educational Assistant will also assist in application of specialized environments and learning strategies for those students requiring varying levels of additional support. All assignments are based on student needs, including daily supervision schedules. Educational Assistant positions may rotate through the school to meet the needs of students in multiple groupings and in a variety of grade levels.

Education

• College Diploma in Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Developmental Services Worker, Social Service Worker, or a related field; or
• University Degree in Child Development, Psychology, Sociology, Education, or a related discipline.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
• Training in Behaviour Management Systems (BMS), Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), American Sign Language (ASL), or other specialized student supports is considered an asset.

Experience

• Experience working with children and youth in an educational, school-based, or student support setting.
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning, behavioural, social-emotional, developmental, or physical needs.
• Experience implementing student support strategies, accommodations, and behaviour support practices is considered an asset.
• Experience working in a First Nations school, community, or organization is considered an asset.
