Job summary

Grande Prairie Public School Division invites applications for a Speech Educational Assistant across multiple schools for the 2026-2027 year. This full-time temporary role (32.5 hours per week) supports students under a certified teacher's supervision, with priority given to post-secondary training in related fields.

CPR/First Aid is preferred, and prior work with children or challenging behaviors is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary training in speech-language pathology or related field preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Educational Assistant Diploma with CPR/First Aid preferred.
• Experience with children in organized settings preferred.
• Knowledge or training in NVCI preferred.
• Experience with students who exhibit challenging behaviors is an asset.
• Ability and willingness to perform physical tasks and assist with personal care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with speech-language pathology tasks under the supervision of a certified teacher who plans, instructs, supervises and evaluates students.
• Support students in classrooms across multiple schools as needed.
• Provide personal care assistance as required.

The Educational Assistant works under the supervision of a certified teacher who retains the responsibility for planning, instruction, supervision and evaluation of the students.

Qualifications

• Preference will be given to applicants with post-secondary training, such as the Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Program
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Educational Assistant Diploma with CPR/First Aid preferred
• some experience working with children in an organized setting preferred
