Educational Assistant - Long Term Assignment (17.5 hr/wk - AM)

Location: St. Elizabeth CES, Bowmanville

Hours: 17.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM)

Start Date: Immediately - TBD

Job Function
  • Assist in accessing instructional programs.
  • Assist with personal and hygienic care of students.
  • Administer medication as assigned.
  • Carry out therapeutic, behavioural management, or training programs.
  • Assist with student activities and supervision.
  • Collect relevant data to track student progress and behaviour.
Job Description
  • Develop, implement, and track instructional programs.
  • Prepare instructional materials and equipment.
  • Support students with hygienic and personal care, including toileting and life skills.
  • Administer medication following Board policies.
  • Support therapy and behavioural programs.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans and other programs.
  • Supervise student activities inside and outside the school.
  • Participate in meetings such as I.P.R.C. and case conferences.
  • Assist with loading/unloading buses and monitoring students as needed.
Job Requirements
  1. O.S.S.D. plus two years of specialized training (e.g., Educational Assistant Program, Child Youth Worker, Autism Support Worker, or equivalent). Knowledge of strategies and supporting students.
  2. Knowledge of Board policies such as Physical Intervention, Discipline, and Medication Administration.
  3. Experience operating audio-visual and office equipment (computers, Google Suite, projectors, photocopiers) and handling mobility equipment.
  4. Physical ability to lift and position students and perform intervention strategies.
  5. Effective communication and teamwork skills with students, staff, parents, and community agencies.
