Job summary

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of Educational Assistant: Classroom Assistant/Physical Care at St. Theresa School. This is a 1.0 FTE Temporary role effective immediately until approx.

the end of November and not to extend beyond June 30, 2027. Qualified candidates will have a two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field, experience working with students with multiple needs, and strong teamwork, communication, and familiarity

Qualifications

• Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing (RNA diploma).
• Experience working with students with multiple needs including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs.
• Preference for candidates with direct experience with behavior exceptionalities.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Working knowledge and experience of behavior modification strategies.
• Knowledge of augmentative communication strategies.
• Experience using technology and digital tools to support remote learning (Google Classroom, Google Meet).
• Excellent interpersonal skills; good written and oral communication skills.

Effective immediately until approx. the end of November and not to extend beyond June 30, 2027

Mandatory Requirements

• Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing (formerly RNA diploma).
• Experience working with students with multiple needs including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs.

Preferred Requirements

• Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset
• French language skills would be considered an asset
• First Aid training

Current compensation,in accordance withthe applicable collective agreement.
