Job summary

St. Theresa School is seeking an Educational Assistant (Classroom Assistant/Physical Care) for a 1.0 FTE temporary position. Effective immediately until approx.

the end of November and not to extend beyond June 30, 2027, the role supports students with diverse needs in a classroom setting. Applicants should hold a two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field and have experience with students requiring physical care, behavior support, and augmentative communication.

Qualifications

• Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing (formerly RNA diploma).
• Experience with students with multiple needs including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior and anger management needs.
• Experience with behavior modification strategies and augmentative communication strategies.
• Ability to work in a team environment and strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience using technology and digital tools to support remote learning (Google Classroom, Google Meet).

Mandatory Requirements:

• Two-year post‑secondary diploma in a relevant field such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing (formerly RNA diploma).
• Experience working with students with multiple needs including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs.
• Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience working with children with behavior exceptionalities.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
• Working knowledge and experience of behavior modification strategies.
• Knowledge of augmentative communication strategies.
• Experience using technology and digital tools and resources that support the remote learning environment (e.g., Google Classroom, Google Meet)
• Excellent interpersonal skills; and
• Good written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Requirements:

• Non-violent crisis intervention training would be an asset
• French language skills would be considered an asset
• First Aid training
