Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking a temporary Educational Assistant for various schools.

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma

Requirements

• Support students’ growth in cognition, communication, physical, and social development
• Support and/or implement teacher-directed programming
• Collaborate with teachers, CST, and a multi-disciplinary team
• Implement strategies from specialists (OT, PT, SLP, etc.) to achieve goals
• Apply behaviour management and educational strategies to facilitate learning
• Communicate effectively with students using age-appropriate positive reinforcement and behaviour strategies
• Observe student behaviour to promote positive outcomes and prevent negative ones
• Provide structure to facilitate learning outcomes
• Work and play at the student's physical level
• Support the use of adaptive and learning technologies
• Implement the Positive Behaviour Plan (PBP) if required
• Support modified curricula and students with Autism or complex medical needs
• Physically handle and transfer students when necessary
• Lift and move students as required
• Provide indoor and outdoor supervision

The successful candidate may work with students exhibiting behaviours related to conduct, OCD, trauma, stress, depression, feeding/eating disorders, ADHD, emotional/behavioural, learning, and speech & language disabilities.
