Job summary

Urban Academy in New Westminster, BC, seeks an Education Assistant to join the Junior School for the 2026-2027 year. Start date September 2026. Responsibilities include classroom support, small group instruction, and supervision during breaks, under the guidance of teachers and the Student Services team.

Qualifications include an EA certificate, experience in schools, and a trauma-informed approach. Candidates should be legally eligible to work in Canada and possess a current Criminal Records

Position: Education Assistant

Start Date: September 2026

Urban Academy is currently inviting a dedicated, team-oriented Educational Assistant to join our support team in Junior School for the 2026-2027 school year.

As an Education Assistant, your responsibilities include:

• Provide classroom support and small group instruction under the guidance of classroom teachers and Student Services team.
• Provide playground and classroom supervision during breaks and transitions as well as other duties assigned by the Junior School Principal.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Be legally entitled to work in Canada
• EA certificate
• Have an excellent rapport with children guided by trauma-informed practices
• Related experience working in a school setting
• Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Flexibility to work across a range of grades and disciplines
• Experience in using Google Suite for Education for documentation and communication, and assistive technologies to support students with accommodations
• Current Safety Awareness & First Aid for Childhood Emergencies Certificate
• Clear Criminal Records Check

Preferred qualifications, experiences, and dispositions:

• ECE or ECEA certificate
• Inclusive Education diploma
