Job summary

McElhanney invites applications for a Survey Assistant based in Edmonton. This entry-level position offers exposure to surveying, scanning, LiDAR, RPAS/drone operations, and GIS on multidisciplinary projects.

You will set-up and operate survey equipment, follow directions from the Field Supervisor, and develop skills under supervision while contributing to safe work practices on varied sites in Alberta. A valid driver’s license and physical fitness are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or technical education preferred.
• Willingness to travel for extended periods as required.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and speaking.
• Physically able to lift and operate survey equipment.
• Valid driver\'s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Set-up and operate a range of survey equipment.
• Follow directives from Field Supervisor or Party Chief to assist survey team.
• Learning correct surveying methods and completing some tasks independently under the direction of the party chief or supervisors.
• Using tools and equipment to place stakes, marks, control points or to identify and expose utilities or survey monuments.
• Completing and participating in safety processes and procedures.
