Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Software Engineer II to develop and deploy scalable software across a world-spanning network of production servers. You will work with top engineers to upgrade and operate thousands of production servers, with emphasis on performance and reliability.

The role focuses on backend development, optimization of internet technologies, and automation. It offers challenges across debugging, incident response, and continuous delivery in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Interest in internet technologies and optimizations.
• Experience developing and monitoring backend applications incl. databases, queuing systems, performance/scale.
• Experience with Java, Angular, Spring, NoSQL, Realtime service delivery, containerization.
• Scripting languages in Linux environments (shell, Bash, Python, Ruby).
• Comfort with basic statistics; analytical mindset a plus.
• Enthusiasm for automation and building development tools.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with the product engineering team and/or working group.
• Conducting regular Production Error Audits of operational metrics and deep-dive log analysis to proactively detect anomalies and error conditions.
• Designing and implementing software tools that enhance productivity for debugging and metrics analysis.
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for releases across test, staging, and production environments.
• Triaging and analyzing customer escalations related to product operations and bugs.
• Participating as a Subject-Matter Expert in Technical Incidents and performing root cause analysis.
