Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in Commercial Finance/FP&A in the CPG industry.

About the role

This is a key finance business partner role within the finance organization. This position will work closely with executive leadership on strategic initiatives and will work cross-functionally with different operational leaders in a fast-paced environment on strategic and financial issues to help drive positive change in the organization.

This individual will lead Trade spend reporting & Net Revenue Management for the Essential Home Canada business and work collaboratively with the leadership team & functional leads while providing the right analytical inputs & holding relevant functions responsible for the P&L delivery. This role will also play a part in Long-term/strategic modelling and various ad hoc analyses, as well as provide financial expertise and analysis grounded on a strong understanding of business & internal and external data.

This individual will not be afraid of getting his/her hands into the details to navigate seamlessly through a variety of tasks and effectively manage changing priorities in a fast-paced organization, while also strategically working on defining the key priorities in the 3-year Plans for Sales.

As such, we are seeking a commercially minded, pragmatic and enthusiastic Finance Leader who can seamlessly work with our Commercial & Finance colleagues spread across functions & also the factories to drive and deliver value to the organisation.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the Sales Finance Planning & Business partnering:
    • Work with Sales & Marketing teams to optimise spends, while driving strategic choices.
    • Drive meaningful analytics on portfolio mix, Pricing & Trade Investments, ROI - to reflect in underlying Margin performance.
    • Maintain a robust understanding & reporting of End-to-End Margin and drive Margins through regular operational actions & decisions.
  • Lead the Planning & Forecasting for Trade & Marketing spends:
    • Review the plans and forecasts for alignment with business objectives, market opportunities, and the ability to execute.
    • Manage monthly spend and keep the Management Team updated with any variances and supporting analytics to drive actions.
    • Be a key contributor to the country Planning & Forecasting process.
    • Provide recommendations and direction to the management team.
    • Offer insights into P&L optimisation opportunities in discussions with the Canada Leadership Team.
  • Spends booking & Analytics:
    • Work with a team of two to ensure accurate Trade and marketing spend bookings.
    • Conduct spends analytics to drive right ROI conversations, cost optimisation, ongoing tracking of key KPIs, and budget-variance analytics.
    • Partner closely with Sales & Marketing Directors to drive overall strategic functional priorities.
  • Right Systems & Processes:
    • Take up projects to significantly simplify work for the team - leveraging advanced systems.
    • Ensure financial management reporting and processes are in place to support the ongoing needs of the business, including setting up the right systems & tools to simplify regular reporting.
    • Lead existing projects on Trade reporting transformation.
  • Business partner Sales Director & Marketing lead as a strategic partner and expert on financial matters, providing guidance and assistance to other functions/finance teams as needed.

The experience we're looking for

  • Degree in Economics/Finance - MBA and/or CPA is considered a plus.
  • 5-7 years of post-qualification work experience, preferably in Commercial Finance/FP&A in the CPG industry.
  • Strong Functional Expertise: Excellent understanding of P&L, Balance sheet and Cash flow & ability to triangulate understanding across.
  • Experience with SAP ERP is considered a plus.
