We are seeking an Health, Safety, and Environment Student for our Saskatoon District, within our Canadian Buildings Division that is available for 4, 8, 12, or 16 months starting September 2025.

Responsibilities

As a Health, Safety, and Environmental Student and depending on your assigned project, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

  • Assisting the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigations
  • Managing documents (ie. data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, filing etc.)
  • Assisting with the orientation of new employees
  • Developing of training materials
  • Reviewing paperwork (ie. PSI, tailgate meetings, safework procedure, trend analysis)
  • Monitoring and maintaining the environmental program
  • Recognizing and following PCL and local legislative requirements
  • Analyzing site-specific trends and incidents and reporting findings to district
  • Gathering/reviewing/distributing safety-related statistical information
  • Interpreting, communicating, and reinforcing project safety standards to workforce

Qualifications

  • Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems which meet compliance
  • Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards
  • The ability to determine the cause of an incident, and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrence
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong willingness to learn
