Job Description
A Product Technical Lead requires advanced formal engineering, training, and experience, system analysis skills to lead project planning, development, and certification as per aerospace standards. Responsibilities include interfacing between customers and design teams to formalize requirements; generating plans, interface, and design documents; performing architecture design and safety analysis according to company and engineering department processes; and leading engineering teams throughout product development, verification, and qualification phases until the product is ready for manufacturing. Excellent communication skills are required.
Complementary Description
- Responsible for ensuring that systems engineering tasks are performed in accordance with Safran Electronics and Defense Canada engineering procedures.
- Responsible for certification process, managing and/or generating systems engineering documentation, including ARP4754A/DO-254/DO-178/DO-160/RAMS plans, high-level design, technical requirements documents, Interface Control Documents, test requirements, test plans, methods of compliance, and stakeholder presentations.
- Perform environmental and EMI/EMC (DO-160) requirement analysis and support qualification testing and results analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware/electrical and software) to develop required designs/products and guide subsystem integration.
- Participate in and support program risk assessment and mitigation.
- Analyze and resolve problems within a team; lead all technical aspects of development to meet customer requirements; perform validation and verification at systems, hardware, and software levels.
- Conduct causal/root cause analysis of issues and implement mitigation strategies.
- Plan and conduct product reviews, testing activities, and documentation.
- Manage and achieve design goals and milestones for the product development program.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent training and experience.
- Minimum of 10+ (preferably 15+) years of experience with embedded control systems, ideally in the commercial aviation industry for Engines, Nose Wheel Steering, and Landing Gear control.
- Proficiency in ARP4754A, ARP4761 processes.
- Proficiency in DO-160, DO-178, DO-254 processes.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, ReqView, etc.
- Knowledge of avionics/aerospace product development, project engineering principles, configuration management, and quality assurance.
- Eligibility to meet CGP (or ITAR if required).
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and communication skills.
