This position requires a candidate with a high school diploma or equivalent. The work environment includes restaurants, rural areas, hotels, motels, resorts, and bistros. The role involves various responsibilities such as:

  1. Maintaining records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
  2. Creating new recipes.
  3. Instructing cooks in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation.
  4. Preparing and cooking complete meals and specialty foods for events like banquets.
  5. Supervising kitchen staff and cooks.
  6. Preparing food for regular service, special guests, or functions.
  7. Requisitioning food and kitchen supplies.
  8. Consulting with clients on weddings, banquets, and special functions.
  9. Planning and directing food preparation and cooking across multiple restaurants.
  10. Planning menus and ensuring food quality standards.
  11. Preparing dishes catering to food allergies or intolerances.
  12. Training staff in food preparation, cooking, and handling.
