Job Description
This position requires a candidate with a high school diploma or equivalent. The work environment includes restaurants, rural areas, hotels, motels, resorts, and bistros. The role involves various responsibilities such as:
- Maintaining records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
- Creating new recipes.
- Instructing cooks in food preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation.
- Preparing and cooking complete meals and specialty foods for events like banquets.
- Supervising kitchen staff and cooks.
- Preparing food for regular service, special guests, or functions.
- Requisitioning food and kitchen supplies.
- Consulting with clients on weddings, banquets, and special functions.
- Planning and directing food preparation and cooking across multiple restaurants.
- Planning menus and ensuring food quality standards.
- Preparing dishes catering to food allergies or intolerances.
- Training staff in food preparation, cooking, and handling.
