Our client is currently recruiting for an Agribusiness Underwriter to join our growing team. We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented team member with firsthand knowledge of the agricultural industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for issuing new business, policy renewals, endorsements, and cancellations for agribusiness risks in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and your level of underwriting authority. Developing strong working relationships with broker partners is key to success. This position reports to the Manager of Agribusiness Underwriting.

Responsibilities

1. Assess and evaluate risks within the farm portfolio.
2. Negotiate acceptance of terms for new business and renewals.
3. Process new business, renewals, and endorsements per underwriting guidelines.
4. Proactively manage business development opportunities.
5. Review underwriting requests, support brokers by confirming correct rates, and clarify underwriting rules to ensure proper application.
6. Develop and maintain effective relationships with broker partners and internal teams.
7. Provide product training and support to brokers.
8. Conduct testing of system upgrades as required.
9. Order and assess inspections or other underwriting information for risk analysis.
10. Participate in industry functions and marketing events to support broker relationships and team building.

Qualifications

1. 3+ years of farm underwriting or related insurance experience.
2. Farm background (personal or professional) and/or a graduate diploma in business insurance or related fields are assets.
3. Knowledge of building construction and residential properties is beneficial.
4. Professional, friendly, and courteous interactions with brokers and colleagues.
5. Dependable, organized, and eager to learn.
6. Strong communication and customer service skills, with a team-oriented mindset.
7. Experience with Guidewire is an asset.
8. High respect for confidentiality.
