Job description

Our client is currently recruiting for an Agribusiness Underwriter to join our growing team. Seeking a dynamic and results-oriented team member who possesses first-hand knowledge of the agricultural industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for issuing new business, policy renewals, endorsements, and cancellations for agribusiness risks in accordance with Company underwriting guidelines and your level of underwriting authority. The ability to develop strong working relationships with our broker partners is key to the success of this position. This position will report to the Manager of Agribusiness Underwriting.

Responsibilities

1. Assess and evaluate risks within the farm portfolio.
2. Negotiate acceptance of terms for new business & renewals.
3. Process new business, renewals, and endorsements per underwriting guidelines.
4. Proactively manage business development opportunities.
5. Review underwriting requests, providing support to brokers by confirming the correct rate and clarifying underwriting rules to ensure proper application.
6. Develop and maintain effective relationships with broker partners and internal teams.
7. Provide product training and support to brokers.
8. Conduct testing of system upgrades as required.
9. Order and assess inspections or other underwriting information for analysis of critical risk hazards.
10. Participate in insurance industry functions and marketing events to support broker relationship development and team building.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of farm underwriting experience and/or related insurance experience.
• Farm background (personal or professional) and/or a graduate diploma within the business insurance program or related field would be an asset.
• A general knowledge of building construction and residential properties is beneficial.
• Professional, friendly, and courteous interactions with brokers and coworkers.
• Dependable, organized, and willing to learn.
• A team player with exceptional communication and customer service skills.
• Experience with Guidewire would be an asset.
• Demonstrates a high level of respect for confidentiality.
