About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Financial Specialist, Financial Planning to play a critical role in tracking, updating, and managing the budgets of the entire Marketing department. This individual will provide timely status updates, create detailed forecasts, identify potential risks and issues, and ensure that marketing leads maintain precise control over their expenses. The ideal candidate will be proactive, able to think independently, and capable of taking initiative in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Manage Operations Budget:Create a comprehensive operations budget that accurately reflects the financial needs and goals of the operations department. This includes gathering input from various departments, analyzing historical data, and considering future business projections.
  • Forecasting and Tracking Expenditures:Conduct regular forecasting to predict financial performance and track actual expenditures against the budget. Ensure that financial resources are allocated efficiently and that any variances are promptly addressed.
  • Identify Cost-Saving Opportunities:Continuously analyze operational processes and expenses to identify areas where costs can be reduced without compromising quality or efficiency. Develop and implement strategies to achieve these cost savings.
  • Implement Measures to Reduce Operational Costs:Work with various teams to execute cost-saving initiatives, such as process improvements, renegotiating contracts, and optimizing resource utilization.
  • Assist Marketing leads in tracking their expenses and ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Support the annual planning process by providing accurate and timely financial data.
  • Navigate the complexities of a large corporation.
  • Manage stakeholders across departmental boundaries and with conflicting priorities.
  • Maintain discretion in handling sensitive information.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in budget analysis, financial planning, or a related field, preferably within a large corporation.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of discretion and trustworthiness in handling confidential information.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to think critically and take initiative.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in financial management and operations management software and tools.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Office Suite, Oracle Procurement.
  • Experience with financial forecasting and modeling.
  • Familiarity with marketing operations and budgets is a plus.
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
