Our client, a very reputable accounting firm, serving individuals and businesses throughout Barrie and Simcoe County is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing team of professionals.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, with extended working hours from February through April as needed*
Salary: $70,000 - $95,000/annually (based on experience and years of expertise).
Benefits: Available after 3 months of employment.
Vacation: 3 weeks annually.

Job Description
In the role of Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for providing accounting and taxation services to small and medium sized clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Notice to Reader files and financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
• Prepare corporate and personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy and adherence to tax laws.
• Perform account reconciliations, including bank and general ledger accounts, resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare and file external returns such as HST, T4, and T5, ensuring timely compliance with tax regulations.
• Support clients with accounting and tax-related inquiries, maintaining strong professional relationships.
• Collaborate with team members on audits, reviews, and engagements, ensuring high-quality, timely deliverables.

Qualifications:

• A post-secondary education in Accounting, or equivalent field.
• 5+ years experience in Public Accounting.
• Experience with preparing complete year-end files and Corporate tax returns for small to mid-sized businesses and corporations.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, including general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, and reporting requirements.
• A strong grasp of tax principles, with experience in applying tax rules for both individuals and corporations.
• Proficient in using various software programs, including Caseware, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, Simply Accounting, and both personal and corporate tax software.
