Job summary

PLASP Child Care Services is seeking an Assistant Director for the After School Program in Mississauga to lead a high-quality extended day offering. The role supports safety, planning and collaboration with staff to deliver stimulating activities that promote wellbeing.

Requirements include an ECE degree or CYW/OCT, RECE registration, 2+ years in child care, first aid/CPR and a vulnerable‑sector check. Competitive compensation and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in child care or related community service.
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate with level C CPR and a Vulnerable Sector check.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, warm and caring after-school environment for children.
  • Collaborate with staff to design and implement age-appropriate activities.
  • Participate in program administration in the director’s absence and ensure licensing compliance.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR – AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than240schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 38full-day early learning and child care centres and sixEarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:
  • Maintaininga safe, warm and caring environment in which a high-qualityextended day program can operate
  • Working collaboratively with other staff to help plan, develop, and implement programsof stimulating age appropriate activities forgroups of children. Activities will promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being, in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA),How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?)and the guidelines established by PLASP for all program components including P.A. Days
  • Supportingtheorderingoffoodfor the program,andpreparing nutritious breakfast and snackswhile adhering tothe guidelines of the Canada Food Guide,and in accordance with the rotational snack planner
  • In the Program Director’s absence,beingresponsibleforalladministration of the program, including registration, record-keeping, health and safety monitoring and ordering of supplies
  • In the Program Director’s absence,operating programs according to the Ministry of Education (MEDU)standards and ensures the CCEYA license is in good standing
  • Participating fully in P.A. Days, by providing safe, reliable care on and off school premises
  • An ECE degree/diploma and be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) or have a Child Youth Worker/Care diploma (CYW/CYC) or Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) in good standing
  • A minimum 2years’ experience in child care and community service organization (experience in supervision of staff preferred)
  • Knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA)and Ministry of Education Licensing requirements
  • A valid Standard First Aid Certificate, with level C CPR
  • A valid Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector
  • All health requirements (immunizations) to be met in accordance with the CCEYAandMedical Officer of Health
