PLASP Child Care Services is seeking an Assistant Director for the After School Program at Bennington Heights Elementary School in East York.   • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities promoting well-being per CCEYA and HDLH, following PLASP guidelines including P.A. Days
  • Order food for the program and prepare nutritious meals and snacks per Canada Food Guide
  • In the Director’s absence, handle administration, registrations, records, health and safety monitoring
  • In the Director’s absence, operate programs according to MEDU standards and ensure CCEYA license is in good standing
  • Participate fully in P.A. Days, providing safe, reliable care on and off school premises
  • ECE degree/diploma and be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) or CYW/CYC or OCT in good standing
  • Minimum 2 years in child care and community service; supervision experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the CCEYA and Ministry of Education Licensing requirements
  • A valid Standard First Aid Certificate, with level C CPR
  • A valid Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector
  • Immunizations per CCEYA and MOH

Responsibilities

  • Order food for the program and prepare nutritious breakfast and snacks per Canada Food Guide
  • In the Program Director’s absence, manage administration including registration, records, health and safety monitoring and ordering supplies
  • In the Director’s absence, operate programs according to MEDU standards and ensure the CCEYA license is in good standing
  • Participate fully in P.A. Days, providing safe, reliable care on and off school premises
  • Maintain required registrations and licensing compliance
  • Foster a positive, fun and supportive working environment

Hourly Wage: $24.39 plus hourly Provincial Wage Enhancement if applicable Compensation rates are increased for RECE candidates

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR – AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

PLASP Child Care Services is a charitable organization operating on a not-for-profit basis, providing high quality early learning and child care, for children up to 12 years of age. PLASP operates in more than 240 schools providing before school, lunch, and after school programs and 38 full-day early learning and child care centres and six EarlyON locations for children from 0 – 6 years.

Job Description
The successful candidate will provide a full range of duties, including:
  • Maintaininga safe, warm and caring environment in which a high-qualityextended day program can operate
  • Working collaboratively with other staff to help plan,develop, and implement programsof stimulating age appropriate activities forgroups of children. Activities will promote their physical, social, emotional and intellectual well-being, in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA),How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH?)and the guidelines established by PLASP for all program components including P.A. Days
  • Supportingtheorderingoffoodfor the program,andpreparing nutritious breakfast and snackswhile adhering totheguidelines of the Canada Food Guide,and in accordance with the rotational snack planner
  • In the Program Director’s absence,beingresponsibleforalladministration of the program, including registration, record-keeping, health and safety monitoring and ordering of supplies
  • In the Program Director’s absence,operating programs according to the Ministry of Education (MEDU)standards and ensures the CCEYA license is in good standing
  • Participating fully in P.A. Days, by providing safe, reliable care on and off school premises
  • An ECE degree/diploma and be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) or have a Child Youth Worker/Care diploma (CYW/CYC) or Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) in good standing
  • A minimum 2years’ experience in child care and community service organization (experience in supervision of staff preferred)
  • Knowledge of the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA)andMinistry of Education Licensing requirements
  • A valid Standard First Aid Certificate, with level C CPR
  • A valid Criminal Reference Check – Vulnerable Sector
  • All health requirements (immunizations) to be met in accordance with the CCEYAandMedical Officer of Health
